1. Choose the right size

Of course, choosing the right size junction box is first and foremost based on the size of the existing components and where the equipment is to be placed. However, we should also consider whether new components will be added in the future, and if so, whether there will be enough space for him. It is also important to note that the reference dimensions provided by the enclosure supplier are external or internal dimensions. It should also be noted that the space that can be installed is usually smaller than the internal dimensions provided.

2. Pay attention to which parts are included in the standard configuration of the product

Most manufacturers do not have a product number that includes those standard accessories. Usually what we can understand is that a junction box contains a lid, a cassette, a sealing strip, and a lid screw. Depending on the need, the manufacturer will also provide optional accessories such as wall fixing corners, installing floors, cable glands, etc. In order not to cause trouble afterwards, it is necessary to find out which parts are standard and which are optional accessories before ordering.

3. Choose the sealing grade correctly

When choosing a junction box, the IP protection level is a very important factor. According to the IEC-regulations, the first number of the IP rating indicates the housing's ability to resist the ingress of solid particles, while the second number indicates the housing's ability to protect against water droplets. The IP rating is only defined for the housing, but the equipment should also meet the corresponding requirements after installation, that is, if the junction box needs to be installed with cable glands, its protection level should be higher than that of the box (the mainstream cable glands on the market can reach the IP68 standard).
